Rules and Regulations

Rehearsals

Rehearsals take place on Monday evenings from 7:30– 9:30- PM at the club house of the American Women’s Club of the Hague, Johan van Oldenbarneveltlaan 43, 2581 NJ The Hague.

New members

New members will undergo a voice test by our conductor to determine if a person is not tone deaf and whether a person is soprano, mezzo or and alto. There is a two week trial period for new members. The new member will be informed at the end of the trial period whether they have been successful. Only then will the contribution be due.

Finances

Contribution is € 30 to be paid at the first of each month into the choir’s bank account (ABN): Luscinia The Hague – NL62 ABNA 0508 4007 91. Only in the case of long term illness or maternity leave is the monthly contribution not due. Insight into finances can be asked for by any member at any time.

Cancellation

If a member can’t make it to rehearsal, she should inform Muriel Reginster before 6 PM.

Music

The main focus is on songs from the roaring twenties, light pop, musical theatre and Christmas carols. All sheet music remains property of the choir and is to be handed over to the Chair when leaving Luscinia. All orchestrations are copyright publications. Copying and/or distributing is not allowed. We ask for a € 10 deposit for sheet music and gig folder.

Musical suggestions

Members should give their musical suggestions to the Music Committee. The Music Committee collects suggestions and makes a preliminary selection which is periodically offered to the choir to vote upon. These songs are first presented to the musical director who has a veto. The final vote is given to the members who can vote either “yes” or “no” for each proposed song. Yes = I agree or I have no preference or I don’t know. No = definitely not. Songs gaining a two-thirds majority of votes are accepted. Songs gaining less that the two thirds majority are permanently rejected.

Miscellaneous

If you have a conflict with someone in the choir you can discuss with the Chair how to proceed.
